Shkolla 9- vjeçare “Nënë Tereza” Lezhë, Albania
The school engagement for active citizenship was a project implemented by, Nënë Tereza, facilitated by the SIFD organization, the Local government, and the community of parents.
We are a new suburb established in the recent years due to internal migration and many services are lacking in our community. A new road was built but the lack of road signs and road safety was identified as a great concern by the school and the local community for their safety.
Covid-19 didn’t stop our project. We continued our online training and follow-up activities and this was done with great pleasure by children and very much supported by parents.
We solved the road signs problem in our community where we installed signs and painted white lanes and the parking area around the school.
The most important thing we learned was the way and the inspiration that we as a school can bring change in our community and serve as social change agents.
